Dear Art Student (and Parents),
The Seawall Art Show is being held in Olde Towne Portsmouth on August 28 and 29, 2021. The student show will be held on Saturday, August 28th, from 10 AM to 4 PM in the 200 block of High Street. We are looking forward to having many students from throughout the entire Hampton Roads region participate. This is an opportunity for students, as well as adults, to exhibit and sell their artwork. The student show is open to students who are presently in grades 6-12. Seniors who graduate this year will be eligible.
The involvement in this type of show will provide you with wonderful experiences -- exhibiting beside professional artists, manning your own show in a professional atmosphere and selling your work! We are pleased to provide this opportunity and cordially welcome your participation.
This is the 50th year of this art show in Portsmouth, and we are making exciting plans for the event. We anticipate that we will have 80 professional artists and many more students than ever before who will exhibit in the show. Entertainment will be provided throughout each day of the show, with a grand opening on Saturday, August 28, at 10 AM.
Each student will be allowed to display one or more pieces of artwork, depending on available space; however, you may bring more work to share with others who are interested in your work. All work must be original. Awards will be presented at 4 P. M. on the day of the student show (Saturday). There will be separate awards for middle school students and for high school students. Additional details and a parking pass will be mailed to you in July. We suggest that you take home some of your best work at the end of the school year and bring that with you to the Seawall Art Show Student Show. Awards are as follows: High School: Best-in-Show $65; 2nd Place $45; 3rd $30; 4th $25. Middle School: Best-in-Show $40; 2nd Place $20; 3rd $15; 4th $10.
Students must arrive by 9 AM the day of the show to display their artwork. Click Here to download a student application and return it with your art teacher's recommendation to 521 Middle Street Portsmouth, VA 23704 as soon as possible. Later applications will be accepted as space permits.
